When it came to burn Xyz that was the first to pop into my head. It has a control factor and one of the largest burn effects, #50 and #44 are on that same level though.

I would agree. Sky Pegasus is just a notch lower on the Burn totem pole for me because, without other destruction effects present in the Burn deck, the opponent is much more likely to just let Pegasus destroy something.

Unless you target a key monster that they will really not want to have leave the field.

Fair enough. I suppose that situation could come up in certain cases. It's all about proper timing. Of course, Pegasus becomes best in the Burn deck's late game, where the opponent can't give up the LPs for it. Then, the Burn player can try to play toward a surprise attack if the opponent has something that would make Cowboy a bad idea instead.

How could Cowboy be a bad idea?

Cowboy has to go in Defense to get that effect. There could be a situation where you'd want to threaten a Pegasus attack if they decide to keep their monster. That would definitely push Pegasus as the better option!

The biggest thing that I'm seeing though is that #44 can get run over or paired with a large number of level 4 monsters to get taking off the field, Cowboy in defense needs a tribute or special summoned monster to usually take care of it. If they can't do either Cowboy will at least get 1600 burn through. Mind you this is on the pretense that the opponent doesn't have an answer in spell or trap form.

Fair enough. However, these days, it should be assumed that the opponent has S/T answers. It's small potatoes to me, though. Maybe I'm biased toward damage effects, but most of my decks that access Rank 4 have both Cowboy and #44.

Its your bias, I haven't had either in a lot of the decks I hit rank 4 in lately.

Goodness... I'd love to see a Burn deck that can hit it! Haha, it would take a Castle Gate deck for that to even be remotely possible, probably. :-P I was actually talking about cards like Cowboy, Sky Pegasus, #50, and (by extension) #49, just to name a few. Tanhauser gate in the "stall burn" variant( stealth x2=6 stars, scrabs+locusts=6 stars, golem sentry+ mudea worm= 6, spirit reaper+ lacooda= 6, and so on....) actually tanhuaser in general could allow for it, as could resonance device with creature swap in a deck that uses volcanic queen.I'll have to look at what else could do it.

Ah, Tannhauser Gate! That's a very exciting option that I will surely be testing at some point. That brings #6 online dangerously easily for some Burn decks. If only there were more good Rank 6s for Burn...

If only there were more good Rank 6s for Burn... well there is always rank 5 as an option. that could be stuff like maxx C and a swarm of "insect" card, or plaguespreader+ camel power/spirit reaper. hell in a chain deck thats herald of orange and marshmallon. #61 says sup!

#61 says far more than "sup".

I am thinking about bringing back Nullification to try to gain more access to #61. (Does anyone remember that? It was King Pyron-based Gemini Burn.) Stuff like Swords at Dawn can help Supervise come back from the grave to get that 1000 damage across more often!
