There are some interesting variations of this old timer running around. Namely the Wyburstar/Collapsarpent variation that has stun built in much like the Vanity Monarchs with the Tefnuit engine replacing the Frogs, and then there is the Ghost Monarchs where the fodder is brought by Ghostricks instead of Frogs. Really digging the Ghostrick version.

Wyverburster and Collapserpent variant sounds interesting at the very least.
New support in the Mega Monarchs and March of the Monarchs too.

There is that support, just not sure if I am sold on them yet. Well, we have info on one, but I am interested at least to see what the Mobius one does...I think that is the next one to hit.

I think I'd be more interested in whether or not we get a Mega Caius and how good its effect would be.

I think with the new search support win Return of the Monarch, we're going to see another Gadget Monarch deck. Here as follows;
Summon Tin Goldfish, SS Gadget (Chain 1) SS Kagetokage (Chain link 2) Chain Summoning (Chain Link 3)
Turn 1 continuation
Normal 2 Gadget, search Gadget Normal 3 Gadget, search Gadget XYZ Gear Gigant, Search Gadget XYZ King of Feral Imps, Search Kagetokage/Gale Lizard
Turn 2
Activate Return of the Monarchs Normal 2, search Monarch Normal 3, search Monarch XYZ into Gauntlet/Photon Strike Bouncer
Depending on turn, the rest of the play would deviate between Monarchs being Gadgets and summoning two to clear threats, or end up with Gear Gigant X/King of the Feral Imps and plenty of cards in hand. Monarchs being able to search is insane. And being able to grab DAD directly with Caius/KagetoKage in deck is absolutely nuts.
Leaving you usually with 5 cards in hand, 1/2 XYZ depending on level and back up support for next turn is infinitely better than Frognarchs, simply because I can drop multiple Monarchs in a turn, and clear the field. With Raiza/PWWB main decked, you simply will put the opponent back every turn and stunt growth.
The other idea is hand control with being able to summon triple Thestalos in a turn to wipe half the opponent's hand, and say Robbin' Goblin as a back up. Hand/Field clearing decks are rare.

I'm really hoping to see Monarchs do well again in the upcoming format.
Somehow I doubt The format will slow down enough though to even accommodate this faster versions.

I'm really liking Mega Mobius. Hyunlei with a tribute summon. Or dropping three Uria when tributing a Mobius. Now I need to look up some water tribute monsters...

That's just it, to clear 3 and prevent the activation it just has to be water monsters used as tributes. End phase Call of the Atlanteans will give you more than enough tribute material.

And this is when I will sound hipster, but I think frogs are too mainstream for me to use in a Monarch deck.

Loving the mega Mobius right now. I doesn't just hit the backrow too. The trap card also look interesting. I was planning on doing a no extra Monarch deck.

The info given says to target up to 3 spell/trap cards and destroy them, that sounds like just the backrow to me.
