That feeling always is liberating.

I'm feeling pretty bummed right now. I fell like I've been betrayed and that that betrayal has caused me to betray a co-worker who is like my second mother.
Last week I was asked to punch in early to assist with the truck unload, which obviously I did. Well, at one point the line got backed up so I look over at the two guys loading the belt and said that they were doing a good job. To which one of them replied "why don't you f**king help us, you lazy a**hole". Keep in mind I can't load the belt anymore due to the possibility that a falling box could injure my bad leg, not to mention with the belt backed up three guys would have gotten us nowhere. So I walked around the corner and the guy is still mouthing off until the receiving manager heard and asked him to be more respectful.
I should mention this guy has a history of this s**t. And this time I had enough. I went to file a complaint. And that's where things went from bad to worse. I naturally went to the HR manager first. She told me that she would take my complaint after her lunch. Breech of company policy. I then decided to take it to the store manager. Since he was with a visiting corporate manager I decided to wait until either the visitor left (big mistake) or the HR manager was back from lunch. An hour later I cannot find the store manager and the HR manager was in the midst of an interview.
I was frustrated and infuriated. So I told the nearest manager that I was leaving early. When he asked why I told him and mentioned that I was going bypass store management and call the employee hotline.
Well, I never did make that call. I wish I did. The next few work days I spent most of my time avoiding the guy. Today was another truck day, so I avoided punching in early and made sure I was busy until it was complete. Anywho, I was going in to one of the employee bathrooms to mop up some vomit when I noticed three associates at the table and all three were filling out an incident report. Since I've known all three since I started and have become very close to them I asked what had happened. And I heard a story similar to my own incident.
Apparently there was a dip in the belt and he was asked if he could fix it. His response was filled with swearing and eventually violence. Now the victim of this abuse was not hurt or even touched, but she was badly shaken emotionally. This time action was taken and he was sent home early.
Now I feel like I could have prevented this. I should have made the call. I should have talked to the store manager about it in front of the corporate manager. Of course management could have prevented this. They should have listened. They should have followed protocol.
This is where things get to the point of nauseating. He doesn't have just two complaints against him. He has three. He also got a complaint from a customer, again for his aggressive behavior and foul mouth. Three complaints in one week!
His next scheduled day is Friday. I guess I'll find out then if I still have to hide in stockrooms or if it is safe to roam the store.

I don't think you betrayed anyone. Yes you should have made that call, or tried talking to either one of the managers again later that day.
But if that other guy is known for that behavior, management should have stepped in a lot sooner. They are @ fault not you.

Thank you, Bystander. I needed to hear that. Sadly the guy has been doing this sort of thing for years. Anyone else would have been canned by now for that kind of behavior. And yet they let him keep his job. Hopefully they'll learn their lesson this time. If not, well, we have another regional coming in today to discuss a project. I'll ask to speak with him privately and discuss the hostile work environment and potential loss of return customers.

The fact he went after a customer should have gotten him fired on the spot.

Agreeing with bystander. You weren't in the wrong here. You should definitely talk to the regional if you get the chance!

Should have, but he didn't. Corporate policy also dictates that given any kind of harassment situation the two associates cannot be on schedule at the same time with the offender being the one switched out. That also has not occurred.
I didn't get a chance to talk to the regional manager, but I have both his office and cell number. I'll be giving him a call soon.
And f**k you, Meat~Product. Thanks to that video I can't get that f**king song out of my head.

Not liking the message it is sending about studying though.

Eh, I think if you're smart enough to study in the first place, this won't change your mind. It is however something everyone has wanted to do. Surely you've had to study for stuff before and wished you could just say "F*** it all"
I find it amusing, but I guess maybe everyone doesn't share my sense of humor.
