What used to be a standard PACMAN deck has morphed into this. Basically, I use Jowgen and Fossil Dyna to shut down sp summons, with stall to protect them. I use Worm Linx to Pot of Greed each turn, providing ammo for Snipe Hunter. Then, I spray the field and attack directly.
Combined with a consistency engine made up of PoD, Reckless, and Upstart, I generally get most, if not, all the components I need. I don't actually need Hunter or Linx in the beginning, I just need to slow my opponents pace, which can be done with Jowgen and Fossil. From there, I work for advantage. I used to have the problem of getting too much stall, too many monsters, etc. and not wanting to deck out, but this way, it runs much quicker and efficiently, believe it or not. I draw as much as possible and toss any cards I don't need with Hunter. Skill Drain would be a problem, as I have no way of getting rid of it.
Most don't run it though, so yeah.
Those are the basics, ignore the following unless you want in-depth
These cards lead to established fields and simplify for my opponents (Patrick Hoban, anyone?) because they don't go away after single use, and keep their effects (Stall, anti sp summon, Linx). This nets me overall advantage. In addition, even if my opponent gets more cards, it doesn't matter, because they are usually locked out. Card by card choices:
Monsters
Lava Golem- A great out if the opponent has some good monsters. As a 2 tribute, it doesn't trigger destruction effects, and even if negated by warning/horn, it gets rid of threats and locks.
Thunder King-Great multi use. Anti sp summoner and prevents advantage and search against many cards, with good attack (sorely lacking in this deck). I used to have Breaker the Magical Warrior because it was a -1 for the opponent, but wasted a Normal (which I needed to get my set up established). On that note, is there a term for those versatile cards that have multi-functions? It allows the deck to be more flexible if they can be used synergetically.
Linx & Hunter-I've explained this above. Combined with the consistency engine, I just need the combo pieces. In the old build, a ton of cards went to waste (and led to deck out). I simple take what I need, and discard the rest for Hunter. Also, Hunter doesn't trigger Stardust and such because it isn't certain that it WILL destroy at the point of activation.
Jowgen & Fossil-They speak for themselves. Unlike Vanity's, they don't need tribute. When I get monsters, THIS is what I put down first, always (unless the opponent has no extra deck)
Mole-Bounces and is reusable, so doesn't trigger a lot of things (But triggers a lot of OTHER things...). Works well with Golem for reuse; waste not, want not.
S&T
PoD, Upstart, and Reckless is a great consistency engine. They work well in this deck. Along with the fact that I run many cards that do the same thing, and in multiples, it is pretty consistent. Sometimes, I don't get Linx or Hunter early, which is fine, as they are better mid and late game. Linx and Hunter are cards that don't do the same thing as other cards in the deck; only they can fulfil that purpose. That's 3 in the deck, unlike stall or anti sp summon, so the ratio of what is needed is high, good for early-game. And later, they can be utilized by Hunter, so that gets rid of dead cards in a more efficient manner.
Bribe-A bad card, they say, but it is good for stall, where the setup MUST be preserved. Because really, the vast majority or the opponent's cards are locked out by the setup; statistics favor the deck under such circumstances. Bribe is good here.
Black Horn- If my opponents kill off my monsters, and thus anti sp summon, I can still use Horn. Vanity's Emptiness might be better though, I don't know...
Assuming I use it... Kinda clogs the backrow, Jowgen/fossil is fine.
Problems- Although consistent, it has a tough time against Noble Knights, Prophecy, and Mermail (Atlanteans really). Decks that don't rely on huge plays are tough, because they chip away at the setup, and pounce at an opening; the constant effect negation/back row destruction with little things over time are bad. With Noble Knights, they get there effects off equips, and this deck is slow in the beginning, allowing them to build up equips.
I wonder though, if I use hunter+linx, I could wipe the backrow and attack directly. Or, Bounce them.
Also, I would like to have "insurance"- Dark Bribe, Fiendish Chain, Black Horn, The Huge Revolution is Over... They are there to protect the setup, but in that sense, it isn't the most consistent, because they each have very different functions to preserve the setup. So I don't get the right insurance policy, if that makes sense. If I run more Revolutions, MST is a problem (I can set more stall than needed, just in case). If I do this, then that. Imperial Order maybe...? Protecting monsters is vital too... I need help with those mix of cards.
