So today I was cleaning crap off the bathroom walls again when I decided to go back to school. This time to an actual college (meaning one that does not advertise on Comedy Central at 2 AM, learned my lesson last time). Well, I have been looking at a community college and they have an engineering program! And I can afford it!

Okay, so I've been sick for about a week now. Typical situation for me; rare to get sick, but takes forever to get over something that normal people only have to deal with for two days. Anywho I had some fun with it at the end of today's shift.
One of our associates, a tall fellow who like to make fun of short people (keeps calling me a hobbit), happens to be germ phobic. So when he started up with making fun of my voice I told him I was sick. He started to back a way. So I said "Bilbo Baggins (what he constantly calls me) needs a hug" and started chasing him. He proceeded to run up the stairs and, of all places, into the fixture room. Now the fixture room is where we store all the excess shelves and hooks and it happens to be my turf. I shut the door and popped on the padlock and went back down the stairs.
Now this is where things get interesting. One of my managers came out of the office to see what was going on and I explained. That is when he, the associate, went over the walkie trying to get some one to unlock the door. The manager said "follow me and what ever you do, don't say a thing". We go up the stairs and she proceeds to tell him that since I'm the one whose suppose to organize the fixture room it is part of my duty to lock up for the night (which is true) and that he shouldn't be hiding or goofing off in there (also true). She then said that I had left for the night (not true) and that I had the only key (big lie, all managers including LP have the key). She then told him that she was going to call me to unlock the door, but it might be a while.
So I punch out and we are talking outside and she comments that this might get the Jolly Green Giant to stop calling her an Umpa Loompa. To which I reply "You should wait atleast 30 minutes before you let him out". You, like my manager, are probably wondering why 30 minutes. Well, you see the previous store manager thought it was a good idea to put the lights in the fixture room on a motion sensor, which was put above the door, but faces towards the hall. Which means after 5 minutes the lights go out...And they can only be turned on from the outside. And it's the one room in the store you do not want to be in without lights. I personally, after 5 years of working in there, could navigate it in complete darkness, but for the average associate who goes up there once a week its a death trap.
So yeah, I might have to meet with the HR manager on Monday for this one, but it was well worth it.

So this is probably more suited to the Epic Wins/Failures thread, but it is technically an accomplishment too! I finally got the X-Saber hand loop in an actual (your mileage may vary) game (on DN): After emptying his hand, I made Gauntlet Launcher, swung over his cards and scored a direct hit, he draws and admits defeat. WEEE!

Yup. Now to plot my revenge against the person who gave me this damn cold. I'm thinking about the use of laxatives...

Well worth it. Good way to break a bully of his habits. As for the cold thing let it be. That person didn't purposely go out of their way to give you the cold. Just bad luck that you caught it.

I had a minor ego boost today. You see, years ago while I was a moderator at GT X.0 (I don't blame you if you never heard of it) I had tried to start up an event. The site's debugger who was not technically part of the staff said it was too exclusive. So I made changes and still he complained. This went back and forth for a bit until I asked him flat out if he had any intention to even join the event and he said no. In other words he derailed the thread and scared away people who would have joined the event and I was force to close it before it could even start. A massive argument ensued, he defended his actions as "testing me" (not one of his duties by the way) and since I had very little support from the other members of staff I decided to quit instead of dealing with his continued harassment and vowed never to post there again.
Why tell you this story? Well, I got bored and decided to pop in for a quick visit. On one of the boards I use to moderate I saw this:
This was from one of the guys who was quick to join the bandwagon that forced me to leave!

Okay, I have not been active lately, mostly due to I have had nothing to really discuss. Life got a bit stagnant and I haven't made any worthwhile decks or changes to current decks. But yesterday something happened that I had to share.
I got to work early as usual yesterday and had sat down to read on my Kindle when the HR manager sat down on the opposite side of the table and asked to talk to me. Anywho she told me the woman who worked damage products processing had been let go and the position was available. Normally I hear about these things after the position has been filled. She then proceeded to tell me she wanted to fill the position from within since it would be relatively easy to convert someone and I was the ideal candidate. After some time thinking about it I realized she's right on that, I have been assisting her since she started and I helped the previous guy as well. I told her I needed awhile to think about it and an hour later told her I would take it. Now I'm just waiting on the store manager's approval.
So here are the perks. Weekends off with rare exceptions. Pay increase. Not much, but it's more than I would get if register trained. Better hours. Fewer cuts in hours. Different management, pretty much just answering to LP. No more going out for carts or carry outs. No more customer calls. No more dealing with the front desk. No more going upstairs. Occasional time acting as receiving manager. About a 1000 tasks that I hate, I wouldn't be able to do.
I hope to have an answer tomorrow and to start on Monday. The wait though is killing me.

That's amazing! Advancement of any form usually a positive thing, and it looks like you deserve it too! I'm also hoping for the same thing as you do!
EDIT: Realized this isn't the rant thread, moved the extra stuff over there.

Well, I was hoping to find out whether or not I got the position today, but our HR manager was out for the day. So I have to wait until Tuesday. Can't figure out the delay. Both the HR and Receiving managers have been campaigning to have me put in the position and the damaged crap is piling up, not to mention I'm the only one stupid enough to take the position. Sigh. This is gonna be a long weekend.

Still don't know if I got the position. The store manager is dragging this out. No one else has applied and the damages are piling up.
