-Discuss Card Prices -Trading Value vs Retail Value -Local Meta Economy -What is highly sought after? -Economy Predictions -Wildcards - Absolutely Absurd Prices.
Obviously everything is open to discuss, but those are examples.
Disclaimer: Most of this is opinion. I'm quoting card store, eBay, Local Meta, Toronto Meta and estimated prices. As such, all members must not take information presented as fact, or present things as fact. It's speculative.
Anyways, starting off;
1) The price of cards is a much better mix than it was, say 6 years ago with $300 DAD's and $200 Judgment Dragons. However, prices are still high. It would seem Exciton Knight is the current wallet drainer on the market. With that are Wolfbarks, Honor Arks, The usual Rank 7 suspects, and pretty much anything in LVAL being better than average as an Ultra or higher approaching $40 a copy (I'm looking at you GK Counter Trap and your SS3 Bullshit; I'm on to you)
2) My local meta is so sporadic right now, what do you guys think the going rate for a top rarity LS deck is at a fair price (Harold?)
3) I predict in the next 3 months Harpies are going to go batshit in price. Like Skyrocket, along with Sylvan, GK and Bujin on the hype train of hopes and dreams. Likely, what we'll see is Spellbooks/Mermail survive another list and wreck shit on the secondary (AGAIN) and those decks go big for all of April. I also see a highly volatile environment to make cash with anything to do with old commons that are side deck staples. $10 DNA Surgery is not outrageous. Hell, Overworked was selling at $5 at my locals 3 weeks ago. What the actual F?
4) Secret Rare Wind-Up Rabbits, $25 a pop. Outrageous. Anyone agree?
5) I believe now is the best time to pick up Sylvan. Thing is a hype magnet, and will somehow skyrocket in price once people realize that Plants have a Snatch Steal, a Solemn Judgment and Maelie is probably still worth $50 with some gentle nudging by our resident Plant fanatics (Keep it up guys!)

With or without Extra deck? If without I wouldn't value a top rarity LS deck very high.
I don't really agree with Sylvan. maybe pick it up and sell fast. Prices will be high for a bit but when people realize it's just LS without an actual wincon people will start dropping them.

I figured, with an extra deck, maybe $400.
That includes the mandatory Exciton, the Secret JD's at 25+, Ultimate Recharges for 20+, the Super Rare Lumina from Champion packs with are ridiculously valued, and any Ultimate like Lyla, Secret Ehren etc etc.
It seemed roughly right in eBay value, but others value less, others more?
As for Sylvan, yes its more of a sell quick option. But the point is turnover in YGO is so high it's, in my opinion, the easiest way to fuel the habit. It's how so many players keep ahead of the curve, always have what they need. Every player should practice this to some degree.

When I bought and sold cards I'd use ebays buy-it-now and knock a few bucks off, since some people add a few dollars to the price to make up for lowering the price of shipping to get around Ebay fees.

I honestly scan through the recent sells from the period of about a month and find an average, and use that as a bar to set a compromise price I feel comfortable buying/selling things.

Err yah, that's what I meant, the recent sells. Not sure why I put buy-it-nows.

Buy it nows are so mixed now I hardly look at them unless they've already sold at a consistent price.
The Bidding stuff is just as bad sometimes, but often presents a fair process.
Another thing I notice is how so many times Card Shops undercut typical eBay prices, yet never seem to sell nearly as well, and in the rare instance make ridiculous undercuts everyone jumps on. Wonder if there is a pattern there.

People just want to pay as little as possible for as much as possible, basically. Likewise, you want to profit even just a little bit if you like to sell, so you often "round up" when selling, while you "round down" when buying.

What I was trying to get at is that even though card shops will be cheaper or matched price for price with eBay buy it nows, yet won't be purchased there. often times said purchases appear random. Sometimes it's seasonal, others it's around major tourneys and such. Its just... Weird. Anyways looks like Kristya is up for another TCG reprint soon. $40 card store priced super rares won't be a forever thing. Worst part is that the secrets aren't even all that much more expensive.

Marshalleaf was a good card to get on when the set first dropped, now not so much unless you think it will go up even more when PRIO is released. I am not thinking it will though.
One that is making me scratch my head right now is $30 Six Samurai United super rares. I haven't even seen the deck doing anything to warrant that price even on the regional level.

Some nostalgic resurgence perhaps? Hitting a key Fire Formation and locking them down to one S/T play per turn can probably hinder Fire Fists quite a bit, almost as much as Skill Drain can (but not really).

Full House was a card I always liked, its another one of those surprising tech calls. Glad that it hasn't spiked as much as Emptiness did though, House is still fairly affordable. Still a ~$2 jump in value is still nothing to sneeze at.

Full House got a lot of use in Berlin. It was brought up multiple times in deck profiles on YouTube for various decks. Price jump is understandable, for now.
Sylvans continue to rise, and while deck has inherent problems, once Sylvan Charity comes out, prepare for a dumb price jump because reasons. I also think the deck will be a not so bad top deck eventually next format, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to stock up.
Another deck I notice has fallen a tad bit is Noble Knights. Seems like it'll be a thing next format so if you can get a decent price on it, it'll likely jump back next format at least for April. More gamble type things.
While Thursday disagrees with me, and eBay is still finicky with prices, Archfiends Oath could be a $5 common soon. That heiress engine, and being a great card in Sylvan, makes me believe it'll be another common jmo eventually.
Still not buying Mermails will die next format, but still sell high while you can, and pick up the basics of the engine that aren't named teus, sheer, linde.
I truly believe #101 is about to shoot up AGAIN in price due to silly notions that it's the new money card. exciton has leveled out, and there is no rank 4 (outside of abyss dweller) used more than Honor Ark.
Speaking of Ayss dweller, sell your extras while they're still 15+. If Mermails take a dive, the card will lose its 2 of status in the extra.
That's all for now.

I think people should look through their commons and rares. Example: Archfiend's Oath is bound to be a $15 common because of how it interacts with Sylvans, particularly with Sylvan Charity. Full House will grow to an insane price, because you need 2 Pendulum Monsters in Pendulum Zones to Pendulum Summon, and they are, at that time, treated as continuous spell cards. Some AP03 and AP04 cards are going to see a moderate jump in price soon (such as Miracle Fertilizer, Soul Drain, and Crimson Blader). Harpies will spike in value if/once the new OCG rules take effect in the TCG.

I managed to pick up a shit ton of Full House last night at a quarter each. Right now I should be able to get at least $2 each, but time could make that more. And the fact I will take them to a regional in a little over a week. Could just about set my own price then.
And if ARK does go up again that makes me even happier I have 3 as of last night.
