So this is what Dawson and I were talking about a few nights ago, and this was his list for it. Essentially, it just wants to open with; Instant Fusion Foolish Burial Herald Advanced Ritual Art Sophia Venus Step 1: Foolish Burial, send Buten to grave. Step 2: Summon Venus, pay 1500 grab 3 Shine Ball. Step 3: Make Gachi Gachi or Herald of Pure Light. Step 4: Banish Buten, make Venus/Shine Ball a Tuner synch into Level 5. Step 5: Instant Fusion, bring out Level 5 Fusion Monster. Step 6: Drop Herald, with ARA send Megami Step 7: Play Sophia Step 8: GG. This play also can be made by search and just drawing into it. Otherwise, you can get this on average 28% of the time. And if it doesn't work, you can just play Perfect Herald like you would normally, which is the beauty of it. Thoughts?

Im shocked I've gotten no reply to this. I make shining playable and the crowd roars, I do the same for sophia in a far more consistent deck, and I don't even get crickets chirping....Oh well cest la vie!~
I'm back now BTW, expect activity to rise!

Traffic on the site has begun to revolve around a miniscule minority of threads. Notably legacy decks and the Plant Discussion. Just got to keep posting new content I guess.

I like the idea. Didn't know that this deck in general can set up those types of summons as easily as I first imagined. I typically get Sophia out (back in the day at the least) using a Piper deck that employs a similar approach while also being able to fall back onto typical Piper Chaos shenanigans.
While some might say that the ideal opening is quite specific, there is a decent amount of redundancy that you can gather those cards rather quickly provided you don't draw stuff that should stay in the deck (I'm looking at you, Normal Monsters, especially you, Mystical Shine Ball!).

Thats the beauty of it, 3 of the combo cards are a 2 off (sophia and ARA and venus) 2 are a 3 off (herald and instant), and the only rogue pick is having to snag foolish (for buten) or a per JJ's alternate suggestion one for one(provided I find deck space) for D.D. trainer (again provided I find deck space). based on similar odds in my old shining deck during future fusion 3 REDMD haydays, it's am approximated 28% chance I open with the hand turn 1, it's just outside a guaranteed play once a match, and unlike the shining deck where try as I might, I could not solve for inconsistent draws, all of the random picks I use here can just be chucked out with herald of all goes south. I get redundancy, consistency, and speed(relative to the extravagance of the combo) all in one deck. That's not to say it does not need work though! any suggestions?

I'm only just seeing this deck now. First thing that jumps to mind is you can't actually summon Sophia in this. You need a different instant fusion target, the Gem-Knight you are currently using reads "Must first be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Material monsters." I'm a bit hazy on Instant Fusion but I'm pretty sure the "Must FIRST be Fusion summoned with the ABOVE fusion material monsters" means you can't instant fusion her. That doesn't really matter however, it's an easy swap and the plays you described don't need her to resolve effectively. I love this idea here and it seems like it's able to play even if you don't summon out Sophia. I'd suggest cutting 1 Instant Fusion to make it 40, it's not like -1 instant will hurt consistency too much since you're also thinning the deck by one card. And you're obviously not making this purely for Sophia (Or you'd have a 3rd Venus and some other way to push Buten to the graveyard)

wasn't sure, hence why I suggested it or a generic lv 1-5 instant fusion target. Sriaphinite is a bonus cause its fairy, but even someone like musician king would do as you said.
Cutting instant (going off my old ratios from my shining deck) would reduce my chances from 1/4 duels for sophias summon to roughly 1 in 5, so from 28 ish percent down to about 18.4% just from cutting it. I can try it but I could just find another instant target thats worth while. Also, for what it's worth, going over 40 isn't back breaking in this type of deck, but I will test the fix.
and just so you know, I've ran agent herald, so I know if I went 3 venus I'd need either a means to use the spare 1-2 (like earth searches or hyperion summons) so I wouldn't add her lol.

Okay, makes sense then.
For the instant fusion target, I'd suggest maybe a 2, 3, or 4. Makes for xyz plays with Venus/Shine Ball/Manju

are there any fairy level 2-5 fusions I can fusion summon with instant? those would be ideal...but if not I'll probably go with the old standby: dark fire dragon and flame ghost.

Solid choices. 1 and 1? If so, what do you want to add into the new open extra slot? It feels like Angel of Zera should definitely be in here if you can make it.
