Grisaille Prison is another card I am looking @ for this deck.
Tech still has to wait till I get all the pieces I need, and I get some testing in with this. Lucky for me my old play group is getting back together for a holiday/reunion type of thing.

It's about using best card that performs greater over more scenarios. The Frog Engine isn't being used in this so what makes for the best scenario based option. Cyber Dragon is decent. SWJ seems like it could apply better across the board overall, and Tricky is a bad card in almost every application it can be used. Outside of Fabled more particularly. But K.

I agree with all of this. Monarchs can't afford -1's. And you don't even run enough Rank 5 options to make use of it when Return is off the field. I don't like Match unless you open a way to Vanity's Fiend/March turn 1 with something to deter MST. If you don't run such a deck, don't run it. Run more Pots. SWJ + Monarch = Rank 6. Always play it. Unless you Run Zaborg/Cyber Dragon/SWJ for Rank 5 and more simplification in one turn. I don't like Striker, just because you don't run a better Warrior Engine. Grisaille Prison requires more cards to make worthwhile...which means I strongly believe in multiple copies of Vanity's Fiend. Have you considered Ebony/Ivory Dragon engine? Or even Goblin Zombie Engine w/ Ebony/Ivory engine? |

Interesting suggestions.
The key thing to remember is this deck is not going to have an extra, hence the Zero Ex moniker in the title.
Multiple Vanity Fiends is something I wouldn't mind using. Love having this guy hit the field just to have my opponent waste time and resources to get rid of him.
More pots are possible. So is running a bigger backrow with Dark Bribe and Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell. Just need to get more copies of these cards.
Now that I think of it Striker doesn't really fit too well in this deck. Most of the key spells need to sit on the field, the first PoD blocks special summons after using it, and soul exchange does the work striker is meant to do by hitting the field.
I would like to know the exact make up of the ebony/ivory dragon engine, I was interested in putting a hieratic engine into this @ one point. Wouldn't mind learning more about this engine, I am also looking @ putting together a chaos dragon deck after I get this deck together too.

The E/I dragon engine pretty much just consists of 3 Collapserpent and 3 Wyverburstar.

Other than those you just need a few other lights and darks to act as initial fuel for them.

Well Caius/Vanity's Fiend are dark, so are the confit.
Zaborg is a light, Gentlemander too.

Exactly. Not much is really needed to get them going. Can even use a couple Tefnuit and some light/dark normal dragons. My suggestions would be Galaxy Serpent for some lv8 synchro options, or Labrodorite Dragon for R6 plays.

Updated the OP. Now using the Apprentice Mage engine in this. Question of the extra Mobius/vanity's Fiend, or even adding End of Anubis into this would help.
Was also wondering if I should fit Tsykyomi/BoM in this now. Also unsure If I should run Magical Undertaker (for recursion of spellcasters)/Old Vindictive (monster removal, even though I have Jester and the monarchs for that)/ Crystal Seer (to help dig through the deck.
Also since I am running so many more Dark attributes I should try to get DAD in this as well.

Ok trying out The First Monarch in this. Help get the most out of the Mega Monarchs I am running in this now.
Just wondering I if I should run 1 or 2. Didn't feel all that good knocking out Mirror Force to get 2 in this.
