It is old school Monarch tech that I had in my control build. Kept them in for old times sake.
Was thinking about -2 GK and +1 Vanity's Fiend +1 Spell Striker
Might -1 Mobius and +1 Mega Granmarg.

Was thinking about using Jester Confit in this over Reaper/Marsh. It is a free special summon, plus its end phase effect looks pretty fun to use as well.
Looking @ a 2:3 or a 3:2 ratio with The Tricky.

I will suggest Gentlemander if you wish to use Confit for its bounce effect. BurnForGame has had great success with it.

I will suggest Gentlemander if you wish to use Confit for its bounce effect. BurnForGame has had great success with it. Yes. Even just a copy or two makes a huge difference. Also, I like to use Confit with Dark Eruption or Recurring Nightmare (whatever the deck can support) to make sure I have it when I need it, or when I have Mander in hander ("tip your waiter, people!") to use the two properly. Confit's annoying as heck, but in a deck like Monarchs that can theoretically make sure the opponent only has one monster out often, Gentlemander can work with him to give you another free monster, more protection for your existing monsters, and/or the Mander Lock if you can assemble more than one in your hand. All are quite welcome here, I would hope.

Spell Striker is a nice tech.
Tricky is terrible since Solar Wind Jammer is outright a better card.
Morphing Jar is a terrible card especially in a deck based upon controlling the opponent and their utility.

Downside to SWJ is that you need to have a clear field to SS it, Tricky can drop even when he's already got monsters out.

I'm thinking best value at most times. -1s are never a good thing, and Tricky can be viewed as a static -2. Monarchs will generally be getting outpaced, and it's sort of the deck's schtick as well, so there is that to consider.

Morphing Jar is cut now.
Gonna try out the Gentlemander in this. The protection it provides, plus the potential for the lock would be epic in a deck like this.
Clear field special summons can be difficult @ times. Plus with March/Return/CotH I don't think it would be a good idea in this deck.

Solar Wind isn't really clear field, just clear of monsters on your side.

Solar Wind isn't really clear field, just clear of monsters on your side. Still requires that condition to be filled to special summon.

Which was the reason I gave for you using Tricky over it. Solar Wind is better than Cyber Dragon though since it is actually able to be used on turn 1.

But, why would a Monarch deck want to get anything other than Vanity's Fiend out in turn 1 in the first place? Thestalos is nothing of note these days. Heck, even the Fiend would be all but impossible to protect on the opponent's turn unless you open with March. I'd rather see Dark Eruption over The Tricky, or at least one Eruption if you want (as you probably should) to go with double Gentlemander.
