The situation I feel with close forest doesn't change, the fact that your opponent still cannot activate a field card is still the same.

The situation I feel with close forest doesn't change, the fact that your opponent still cannot activate a field card is still the same. That is a similarity, yes. However we have to notice that Field Barrier means your opponent cannot activate one while you control it, and that furthermore it protects your field. On the other hand it fills up another spot in your deck, and takes up a s/t card zone. Whereas Closed Forest prevents the opponent from activating fields while you control it, and prevents them from activating fields the turn it is destroyed. It does not however protect them. The situation changes drastically.

*insert "why not both?" picture*
Or, depending on the goals of the deck, main one and side the other.

It would only do half of that. Barrier prevents new Field activations, but if it's destroyed, the opponent can play their Field right away. With Forest, if you have another one in hand, you get to play that before the opponent ever gets a chance to use their Field. This... and it might be good in some decks

I did enjoy what he said about Geartown players crying.
Now they have to destroy it themselves, or use magical hats to make any use of that field spell.

Just play Double Cyclone...? Or Malevolent Catastrophe, etc.

Question is how viable will those cards be. People who are creative and determined are willing to see the path, but many are just lazy netdeckers who can wait to see what got 1st place in that YCS. I tried double cyclone and I think its pretty decent at least in my deck.

But we can all agree that it won't be nearly as good as it once was. And that's for sure.

True Double Cyclone is an option.
I still like Magical Hats, this way you get 2 lv 8 3000 att beaters in one swing.

If you draw into geartown, you still have to deal with that.

If you draw into geartown, you still have to deal with that. If have have a AGGD in hand shouldn't be that much an issue. 1 special summon and then you can tribute summon it.
