I take it Shinra is now Sylvan? Actually I kind of like that better.
Going to assume Meliae is in the extra, so this is looking fairly solid right now.
I don't know about you but I ran into this situation Saturday and loved it; I banished a dead Meliae to SS a Spore from grave to keep it as a Lv1 Tuner. I haven't been able to do similar since GUB was banned.

Yah, it's Sylvan now apparently. It's a really fun deck so far, I hope it gets more support because its a neat little archetype. And yah, Maliea is in my extra.
I didn't even think to remove Maliae, that seems like a super easy way to make Rank 1s. are there any rank 1s worth running?

Slacker Magician is really the only one I can think of. There is a 3 material one from Number Hunters but that seems out of reach.

This looks like a couple of the first builds I posted of this deck online. You need to start testing Terraforming and Magical Merchant. Those two cards are two of the new progression points for the deck. A friend of mine is also still testing Reasoning, but I'm not sold on that card at the moment.

Merchant sounds interesting, but Reasoning does not. You may reveal and send 1 Sylvan triggering its effect or SS a monster, but you are definitely getting rid of spells and traps that you would rather see in hand.

The best versions of the deck run low S/T so I understand the lure.

How can that work when there are so few of the Sylvan so far, and not a ton of other useful plants?

Leaflow x3 Stoolhuette x3 Peaskeeper x1-2 Spiritree x3 Flowerknight x2-3
That's twelve (fifteen potential) bodies on top of PCA's, Dandy, Spore, etc. etc.
The math seems good.

At best with a full set of PCA, the Dandy, Spore, and LFB that is 21 monsters. I don't like that math where Reasoning will easily hit more S/T than monsters. Especially since the most of the monsters themselves are removing other monsters from the deck, effectively making Reasoning even less likely to not mill off a ton of support cards before hitting 1 monster. The trade off does not seem to be in favor of the card.

I don't run it, but to overlook a card's potential in the development stages of any deck seems odd.
Anyone have lists/techs that are surprising/effective?

I haven't done much with them personally but I did find what is being claimed to be the LVAL promo- Kinda hoping it is true.

is excavating the new term for sending stuff from the deck to the graveyard?

Revealing then sending, yes. It's supposed to be reprinted on some cards in BP2R2 as well.

Ah, I like it. Sounds cooler than just 'sending'
